Dale Norris

Welsh Strength Athlete

Welcome to my site

Me at the UK's Strongest Man 2005 My name is Dale Norris, I am a strength athlete from the Rhondda Valley of South Wales in the UK. I have been involved in the sport of Strongman since around 2001 and have competed in local, national and international competitions against some of the world's leading strongmen such as Svend Karlsen, the late Jesse Murunde and the UK's Terry Hollands and Glenn Ross.

Brief biography

Born in 1982, I have been training for strongman since the age of 19. Before deciding to become a strongman, I played youth rugby at various levels but got a little fed up with the sport. I'd always enjoyed watching Worlds Strongest Man on TV and was always strong in the gym so I decided to pack in rugby and give the strongman a go.

I am currently out of the competition circuit due to an injury I received whilst squatting in the gym last year. I was attempting a new personal best squat of 360kgs (without any support equipment such as knee wraps, super suit or belt etc) when my quad muscle came away from the bone giving me a 100% quad tear!

I am now back in training and I am hoping to enter 1 or 2 small competitions towards the end of this year before making a full comeback next year.

Greatest achievements

Winning Wales Strongest Man in 2005 and 2006. I could not defend the title in 2007 due to the injury but I am looking forward to regaining the title when I return in 2009!
